It was during this hotly-contested three-year period that Bill McGovern, driving the immaculately-prepared, and  astonishingly-quick Bevan-prepared Sunbeam Imp, took three consecutive British Saloon Car Championship titles in the process.

 

George Bevan was a genius! It's as simple as that! This unassuming, yet extremely affable gentleman, rewrote saloon car racing's record books. He took an Imp, one of automotive industry's underdogs, and with the help of his family, and Bill McGovern, a truly great driver, he made it into a giant-killer.
